Picking up those brushes again.

Hi and welcome to the occasional mutterings of Dave Doc, a military modeller and some time gamer. Gaming and model making has given me a real education, History & Geography(obvious really), Artistry, Politics, Economics, Logistics, Project Management -you try building miniature armies without the last 3.

I will use the blog to record my creations & the odd occasion I actually do some gaming.

I have always been inspired by the aesthetic side of gaming. Playing on well constructed terrain using excellently painted units is always a joy.

There was a good bloggers meet up last year hopefully we can do it again. How about 1pm location TBA?

The New Man Cave part 4

Things are moving along with hobby end having had extra items added- more cupboards, bookshelves, a shelf above the paint desk , display cases added , and a complete sort through all the tools and equipment. I need to put some more pictures on the walls as I review what I have and add some more too.

Favourite film poster is up!

The first actual painting has now been done with undercoat applied to the 10mm ACW stuff that is in the pipeline.

The day job workspace at the end of the room is now sorted too

The gaming area in-between the two ends will be along in the summer after the other works going on that mean I am storing extra stuff until sorted.

The New Man Cave part 3

Its all starting to come together at last. I have moved the paint desk over from its old location. I have also re purposed some furniture recovered from my old day room to create extra hobby storage and dedicated airbrushing and other work area. I should be able to "hide" new stash fairly well now!

The "Hobby" end of the room

dedicated preparation and airbrush area. This as external extractor too.
I need to still fit some kind of splashback in this area to protect the walls
Paitn desk - now just for painting
I need to look at shelving options etc still for the books. But for now I am very happy to get things back useable again.

The New Man Cave part 2.

The infrastructure work has completed on the new man cave and its now ready to put my stuff in!

First up though a proper sign..

Lights, decorating, flooring , new windows and blinds - all done

I will be moving the existing painting desk over in the next few days, along with stuff from my day job room with a new desk and bookshelves etc. The central gaming area will be left until after all the other work we have going on across the upper floor at the moment as I need to use it for storage. After that I will be doing some bespoke solutions for gaming tables - probably in the summer by the look of it. But for now happy to get the new room ready to go...

Things have not been idle on the next lot of painting - well preparation at least..

10mm ACW by Pendraken - a start to my Union Forces.

Work in hand

The RULES!

No more than 3 things on the PAINTING table at once. Nothing new added until something is finished.

PREPARATION work is done when I don't fancy detail painting. Cleaning up, converting, undercoating etc.

On the PAINTING TABLE
10mm ACW, 28mm Stradiots

On the PREPATION table.
ACW Terrain, Egyptian and Sudanese troops for the Sudan

In the PLANNING
Death in the Dark continent stuff
Pulp Alley
